About Me

My name’s Ed.

Onemillionreaders.com serves a bigger purpose than simply proving myself right and one arrogant literary agent wrong. It is my hope to build a community surrounding my endeavors that will provide you resourceful information and tools to set your own path. I’m asking for your help by offering you the opportunity to promote yourself for free on this site. In return, just tell someone about it.

And in regards to agents, I’m not saying that all agents are bad - only the last one I queried. She stated that I would never find enough readers interested in my novel to justify her representing it and therefore no publisher that she knew of would ever take it on to be published. Such harsh words I thought. A simple ‘thanks, but not for us’ would have sufficed. Was she trying to crush my dreams? Maybe that’s more of her job instead. Regardless, I told her she was wrong. She said prove it. Needless to say, at the time I was stumped on how to do this and our conversation ended with her having Checkmate.

Disappointed and disgusted by the entire ordeal, and even though I know I’m constantly growing as a writer, I took what I felt inside to do something here that I hope will show her otherwise. I am absolutely no longer interested in her representing me, I just want to show her what a big mistake she made. You know, that feeling that one would have of someone who would have won the lottery but this was the one time they forgot to play their numbers.

So by creating onemillionreaders.com, my goal is to find at least one million people or more like you who will visit this site, take the time to read the excerpt from my book, possibly share their thoughts by leaving a comment, and pass the link on to a friend. In return, feel free to promote yourself or services.

In the process, maybe this will break some kinda of record or something - I don’t know. Regardless, your time and support is greatly appreciated and with your help one arrogant literary agent will be having crow for dinner very soon.

Hope you enjoy FIXATED (the title says it all). Coming Soon!

    Thirsty flesh I like.
    Good show.
Agents are useless in the era of the Internet.
    Here’s how I use them
    100+ at a time.
Send them a query and usually several will show interest.
If at least 5% respond positively your idea is saleable.
Then you ask agents to get you an advance.
    Six figures preferably.
Then they go away and you go directly to publishers with the same proposal.

I say: self-publish, promote and market your bestseller.
Digital printing and the Internet make it possible if not mandatory.
It’s time to take control and revolutionize the book publishing business.

    Best of Luck

    Bohdan

I read it. It could use a little polishing, but it held my attention. I, too, am an excellant writer currently piling up rejections letters on my desk. I feel your pain. Only one of these arrogant…well…you know …was actually rude. I applaud your inventiveness. How does this get your work published? I have come to the conclusion that literary agents don’t eat crow unless it is served with a large commision check and a nice cream gravy. Best wishes.

I like the enterprise but, as far as the writing goes, I was taught when young that ’self praise is no praise,’ and have always found it to be so. I leave it to others to judge how good a writer I am.

Okay, I get the point about how this is to prove to this agent that you’re a better writer than she thinks. I’m not quibbling with that, but only with calling yourself an excellent writer. When I hear that it sets my teeth on edge. I wonder why you need to have anyone reading your work, you’re enjoying it so much yourself.

It can be frustrating when dealing with agents and even editors for that matter.
As a writer you learn to accept not everyone will like your writing style and yes, some will let you know this in a VERY direct manner.
in the end though, the success of your writing will be determined by those whose choose to buy your book or at least take the time to read it.

Promoting my writing is not something I am very good at. Of course I am known mostly for writing poetry and song lyrics, not something one does if they want to ever buy their groceries with what they write.
Still i have been paid in ways most people could never imagine.

I like the idea of trying to promote your own book, in the end you are your best agent.
Still never close yourself off to those who might be trying to help you become a better writer.

I have been blessed to have four people who help me polish my writing. believe me, they help me appear to be a much better writer than I feel I really am.

Like the concept, like the excecution though the excerpt itself could use some editing. I think the flashback in the middle of the scene in the ambulances takes away the urgency of the situation for the readers. The flashback scene itself is a great set-up and perhaps should start the story?

Best of luck with your endeavor!

We love your strategy! Keep it up! Our motto is, “Don’t Wait For Opportunity…….CREATE IT! what you’re doing is a perfect example.

  10. Beautiee Says:

I like the concept and I kept reading to see what would happen next. I like that you started with the scene in the ambulance and then flashbacked in the middle… E. Lynn Harris started one of his most successful novels that way.

    You’re well on your way!
